Education
Graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, Illinois.
Graduated with a Juris Doctorate from the University of Illinois College of Law.
Nancy Burns Silva, Esq.
The importance of family underlies the choices Nancy made throughout her legal career, and it continues to influence her choices as a solo practitioner, including the areas of law she practices. One of six siblings, her father was a highly respected and accomplished attorney whose love of the law greatly influenced Nancy's views about the law, the legal profession and her decision to become a lawyer. Nancy was born and raised in Illinois and Ohio. She moved to Tampa after graduating from law school to begin her job as a prosecutor in Hillsborough County and has resided in Hillsborough County ever since.
Experience
Nancy has been an attorney for over 27 years, with experience in various legal matters, including: Estate Planning (Wills and Trusts), Life and Health Care Planning (Health Care Surrogate Designation, Durable Powers of Attorney, Pre-need Guardian Designation) as well as Family Law (Divorce, Paternity, Child Support (Department of Revenue). Nancy also has experience in juvenile dependency, termination of parental rights, civil forfeiture, DUI and traffic offenses. Nancy has experience in both trial and appellate courts.
Nancy spent over 5 years teaching college-level courses in criminal justice and various areas of law, including wills, trusts and probate, elder law, guardianship, criminal and civil procedure, and legal writing.
